Valerie Saltz, LCSW

I received my Masters of Science from Columbia University and I am a licensed clinical psychiatric social worker practicing over twenty five years.

I am proud to have a general eclectic practice where I work with all populations including children, adolescents and adults. I work individually, with couples and families.

I am the former Program Director of a child inpatient unit at Four Winds Hospital and now apply my clinical and administrative expertise in the field as a liaison for clinicians throughout multiple counties in the area. I speak on numerous topics as I travel on behalf of the hospital. I previously worked at Montefiore Medical Center adult psychiatric unit and various out patient programs for several years as well.

I have a special interest in working with children and adolescents who suffer with anxiety, depression, impulse control disorders, trauma related disorders and problematic relationships.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help treat all types of anxiety including Separation Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias and Social Anxiety. I believe in helping people, regardless of age, learn techniques, tools and strategies so that they are able to learn how to help themselves. I also specialize in working with athletes regarding performance issues if they are struggling. I have a long history of helping individuals that were adopted overcoming issues related to their adoption that can interfere with healthy development. I tailor my work to focus on each individual, regardless of struggle, to improve their overall functioning.

I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. I belong to the Employee Assistance Program Association (EAPA) for many years an active member of the Regional Crisis team serving local communities in Westchester and Putnam counties when a tragedy occurs.
